Youth Wellness Hub

Youth are the backbone of HC-HY. In fact, youth leadership is the ultimate goal for the
sustainability of an envisioned Youth Wellness Hub. Youth are the change agents, hence, are given the opportunity to be the leaders in the decision-making during the program planning, community awareness campaigns and events, asset-builders programs, focus groups, program delivery, and assessment. They are constantly supported by an array of experienced caring mentors for empowerment, counsel, and knowledge-transfer.

Healthy Community – Healthy Youth, in partnership with with WDHS, Hamilton Public Health Services, and community partners are working together to build upon mental health and wellness support for youth and families in our community.

We are looking for your opinions on creating a healthy community. Students, parents, and teachers, are being asked to identify the top two areas of concern regarding youth.

Some areas identified by our students include:

  • Friendships
  • Relationships (romantic, with peers or adults)
  • Stress? If so, what do you feel this is due to?
  • Sense of belonging/feeling accepted (school, neighbourhood)
  • Extra-curricular activities
  • Boredom
  • Social media
  • Mental Health
  • Drug & Alcohol abuse
